AV's SmartGuard System is an intelligent battery control device that measures battery voltage and temperature, and operates a current bypass circuit. The SmartGuard System improves battery life by detecting and preventing overcharge abuses, recording and documenting the battery's history and by providing state-of-charge information.

AV's compact SmartGuard design is very user friendly, requiring only two wires to assemble and install. It is compatible with all advanced communication protocol and offers greater flexibility than systems with separate wires for each battery. AV's SmartGuard technology is used around the world to measure and control battery, capacitor and fuel cell systems used in electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles and laboratory testing. Lead-acid modules, Ni-MH modules, Li-Ion batteries, fuel cells and ultracapacitors have all been monitored using AV's SmartGuards.
